Jail Facility Overview in Franklin

The Franklin County Jail comprises two jail facilities: Franklin County Corrections Center I (FCCC I) and FCCC II. Located inside the Franklin County Government Center, FCCC I is a 650-bed medium-maximum security correctional facility that houses only male inmates. The facility (also known as the Franklin County Main Jail) mainly serves as an intake and holding facility for processing newly arrested persons before their transfer or classification for longer-term housing.

In comparison, FCCC II is a newer jail that houses male and female inmates. The facility has a capacity of approximately 1,600 and was constructed to address long-term housing needs and enhance the county jail's capacity.

How to Send Money to an Inmate in Franklin County Corrections Center II

As of June 23, 2025, all Franklin County Corrections Center II (FCCC II) Commissary transactions go through the Keefe Commissary Network. This authorized third-party vendor offers several convenient methods for depositors to send money to inmates in the jail facility.

Online Deposits

Depositors may securely make payments online at any time through the Access Corrections website or the Access Corrections mobile app. To make a payment online, select the state and agency where the recipient is located (e.g., Franklin County Jail, OH). Next, enter the inmate's complete name or Sheriff's Office ID.

Depositors typically need to create an account, verifying their phone number, email address, and address. Thereafter, they may add a recipient to their dashboard and securely add and store debit/credit cards.

Inmate Search by Jail Facility

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office operates two adult jail facilities (FCCC I and FCCC II), but a single online inmate search system covers both jails. This means that all inmates' information is stored in the same database. Consequently, requesters do not have to search separate rosters for each facility.

The Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center houses juvenile detainees, and information concerning minors is inaccessible to the general public under Ohio Revised Code (ORC) § 2151.14 and § 2151.15.

Franklin Visitation Rules and Schedules

As of August 2025, the Corrections Center II had moved from in-person to virtual visits for inmates. Through a partnership between a third-party provider and the Sheriff's Office, friends and family may now visit incarcerated individuals from the comfort of their own homes.

Prospective visitors have two options to use the new visitation services:

  • They may visit the Franklin County Visitation Scheduling website to register online and schedule a visit.
  • Alternatively, visitors may download the GTL Viapath Technologies' (third-party service provider) Visitation App in the Google Play Store by searching "GTL Inmate Visits". They are expected to download both relevant apps.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office provides jailed prisoners with two 20-minute virtual visits a week at no cost. Visitors have the option to purchase additional virtual visits on restricted-access tablets in FCCCII housing units.

Mailing and Commissary Information

As of May 24, 2024, inmate personal mail received by the Corrections Center II is scanned and electronically delivered as attachments to incarcerated persons via the facility's message app, available on a tablet.   • The Corrections Center II prohibits sending Legal Mail to the new mailing address.
  • Checks and money orders are expected to be sent directly to the facility and not the mail scanning address.
  • The jail facility only scans direct communication. Boxes and catalogs are typically returned to the sender.
